As you noted, v7.11.0 adds support for Collection Relationships being imported using ‘Collection Object’ (CO) as the base table in the WorkBench.
If you would like to link two COs together that already exist, you would need to follow the Create Collection Relationships via the WorkBench guide.
For uploading new COs with collection relationships, the mapping should appear as follows. Note that there is no need to specify the ‘left side catalog number’ since it is assumed to be the catalog number of the newly created COs:

This will successfully create the collection relationship, and it will be displayed on both sides:

I don’t know if I can expect autonumbering to work in either catalog number field (or should I generate catalog numbers on both sides before importing into the WB)
Auto-numbering is supported on both sides of the relationship during the initial upload. It will automatically create the CO in the other collection. Still, we strongly recommend creating the linked CO first if it is in a different collection than the one you are currently using.
