Report has lost query connection

I tried to modify a loan invoice (having added new fields to the query) but I was unable to see the list of fields in iReport. The only fields I could see were RecordID and NumberOfRecords.

I tried to set the active connection etc. but only succeeded in breaking the connection to the query, so that the report design is now invalid (can’t find any fields).

I really struggle with iReport at the best of times, so this is a bit of a catastrophic emergency.

Hi @willem,

Did you see my email about this issue from last Thursday? Thanks for posting here in any case!

This is a known issue if you create the query in Specify 7 but not in Specify 6 and try to use it as the basis for a new report. If you go to the query you are using to create the report and save it in Specify 6, then open it in iReport, it should show the correct list of fields and the field “string IDs” you see now should be resolved to the appropriate field captions.

I might need some more information to troubleshoot the exact cause here, so you can share the export of this report with me and I can take a closer look. Thank you!

Thank you Grant. Sorry, I didn’t get your email, possibly due to our network being reconfigured. In fact this is a 10-year-old query which I modified in Specify 7 (so I guess that would be the same as having created the query in Specify7?). I will try saving the query in Specify 6 again, and if that doesn’t work I’ll send you the report.
