BTW, is there a plan to support direct SP7 database restoration (via UI or API), or will we continue relying on the SpBackupRestore utility or third party DB management applications (ex: DBeaver)?

At this time, we do not plan to introduce a restore functionality via the UI or API, but we recommend using open-source database management tools like DBeaver or performing database restores via CLI.
