Jaspersoft Studio 7.0.3 trouble

Hi,

I’ve also tried the “Creating Reports & Labels in Specify 7 (Jaspersoft Studio)” tutorial. Unfortunately I’m stuck at step 3. When I integrate .jrxml files, either from my own queries or from Specify (here Teaching Label.jrxml or Datamx Jar Labels..jrxml), I systematically get the same errors (see images below) and I can’t figure out how to solve them.

For the record, I’m using a Windows computer and I’ve downloaded Jaspersoft Studio 7.0.3 (https://community.jaspersoft.com/download-jaspersoft/community-edition/jaspersoft-studio_windows_7.x), which is an application (so there’s nothing to install).

It seems to be a coding problem because in the script, if I remove the isTitleNewPage=“false” and isSummaryNewPage=“false” parts, a new error message appears in connection with . I also get the message “Edge browser engine is not setup. HTML preview will not work fine” written in red.

I’d really like to get to the end of the tutorial without it taking me days to figure out where the errors are coming from

Hi @Marion,

Specify 7 only supports up to Jaspersoft v6.21.4. The version you are using is unsupported. See below:

Step 1: To get started, download Jaspersoft® Studio from the Jaspersoft Community.

Please Note: Specify is compatible with Jaspersoft® Studio up to v6.21.4.

Later versions (Jaspersoft Studio v7+) do not currently work as it is incompatible with Specify 6 label and report formatting.

Can you download 6.21.4 instead and let me know if the issues persist?

Thank you @Grant for your help,

The funny thing is that my brain read the complete opposite (older instead of later). Maybe because the version of Jaspersoft v6.21.4 is not available on the website. So I tried all the later versions before posting my message here on the forum .

In any case, it seems to work with the version 6.21.3 even if the message “Edge browser engine is not setup: HTML and JRJO Preview will not work fine” in red remains (I hope it won’t cause any other problems).

hi @Marion,

You can safely ignore the warning about the Edge browser engine! It looks like you can start developing or editing reports and labels. I’m glad to see that version resolves your issue!
