Search across collections

I have Specify 7 Version:v7.9.6.2 installed. I followed the steps below to enable search across collections : Allow Queries to Search All Collections in a Database
however, when i search the collection name from another collection, the system returned 0 results. am i missing any thing?

Here are preferences included under Global Preferences:

Hi @kitchenprinzessin,

This capability is not currently available in Specify 7 and that setting only changes the behavior in Specify 6. I’ve added your mention of this to our GitHub issue tracking this capability:

You have configured it properly, but unfortunately, this must still be implemented in Specify 7 before it can be set up to perform a cross-collection search. If you have a particular query you would like to make on the database, please let me know and I can do my best to help you retrieve that information! Sorry for the trouble– that documentation previously did not clarify that this configuration change only applied to Specify 6.

@Grant thanks for the updates. if we can search samples across collections by name, project, catalognumber that will be great!

I am glad to learn about this, we are still ‘stuck’ in S6, but glad to learn there are tools we can look at leveraging!
