Can one modify fields to be returned from a tree query (e.g. taxon tree)

When conducting a query for a node at the taxon tree (lt’s say a species), the query is built including the field for taxon –> any rank –> full name. Works fine if ther’s no synonymy involved.

When the taxon queried for IS designated as a synonym, of a given taxon, the specimens returned also include all those that were recorded with the accepted (preferred) name.
Ok so far.
Now, when one queries the corresponding Preferred name, the query returns ONLY those that were entered under the preferred name, and forgets about all specimens recorded under that or any other of its synonyms… despite the specimen counter (for the preferred name) is accounting for everything under synonyms as well.

Maybe this could be resolved if the field build in the query is built on Perferred Taxon –> (any rank) –> Full Name instead of on plain Taxon –> (any rank) –> Full Name ?

I was wondering if there’s a setting one could predefine as to redirect the query toward a different field (o, rather, formated) for the purpose of pulling all speciemns belonging to a given taxa, regardless on what synonyms some may be under.

Thanks

Hi @igranzow,

Thanks for your question!

If I understand your request correctly, you want the ability to search for all taxa that have been synonymized with the name you are querying, even if the name is not the preferred one. This is something we are tracking on our GitHub issue list and it is not an uncommon request:

I have added your inquiry to this issue for reference and mentioned your institution. Is this the capability you are looking for?
