I am seeing this when trying to search for a taxon in the tree:
Hi @willem,
The search behavior for trees in Specify is set in your user preferences.
You can change which field you are searching between Name
and Full Name
, and you can change the search algorithm between Starts With
and Contains
.
By default, if you do not have a Name
value in that tree that Starts With
‘cy’, you will not find any results. You can change this to search the Full Name
and use the Contains
algorithm to return any node that has ‘cy’ anywhere in the name.
You can even set default user preferences for all users at a given scope (collection, discipline, etc.) so it behaves the same for everyone accessing the trees.
Thank you. I checked the preferences.
When I clicked the pencil icon next to ‘Taxon’, I noticed that my Ichthyology discipline was linked to Ornithology. I changed this to Ichthyology, and now the search is working again.
Before I made this change I had checked that the data in the discipline table were correct. So this appears to be unrelated to the data.
This issue only appeared in my Icvhthyology discipline, and not in Orntihology, Herpetology, Botany or Invertebrate Zoology.
