In Specify 6 in the Collection Object Attribute table there are several fields that I am not sure about. bottomDistance, topDistance and positionState. Are these for dredges/trawls or can they be used for well holes? Is the distance from sea level or something else? Any help appreciated.
They were intended to document fossil disposition state. Since fossils usually don’t lay flat, it was a way to document the angle and difference in situ position for it
These are the distances from the top of the litho layer or to the bottom of the layer the fossil was found in.
