I am happy to take this feature on and submit as a PR if it is something the dev team would like.
A simple feature request to have the caption display in brackets beside the database field name in the schema config tool. This would make it easier for the user to find the field they are looking for without having to scroll through everything. The caption would not show in brackets if the field is hidden.
That’s a good idea!
I would further suggest showing the caption in the parentheses also for hidden fields, and indicate the visibility by another way, like italic font or an asterisk before/after the name of the field
I have submitted it as a PR with format bolditalics (hidden). I think that this gives enough visible separation to distinguish between the components clearly, while not being over the top.
I can see how this is convenient, but this is information that is in the Database schema. It might also be convenient to see from the list of fields in the Schema config. what the field type is or whether it is required.
We can (and should) make some concessions to usability, but we have to know where to stop. So, if it were up to me, it would be a very tentative ‘yeah all right if you really have to’ to the original request, but a definite ‘no’ to also indicating the visibility.
How often do people have to change the Schema config. anyway? And, before going into the Schema config., shouldn’t you already know what you are looking for? The Schema config. is not a hangout.
