Webinar: Supporting Transitions to Specify 7: Insights from our Implementation Journey at the Canadian Forest Service

Presented by Kathryn Jastremski (Manager and Science Advisor), supported by Héryk Julien (Data Management Specialist), and Amélie Potvin (Biologist)

The Canadian Forest Service (CFS) at Natural Resources Canada maintains a pan-Canadian network of biological collections comprising more than one million specimens and samples. However, limited digitization and the absence of a consolidated collections management system have constrained the discovery, sharing, and use of these valuable resources. As a key step in modernizing its collections, CFS is implementing Specify 7. This presentation will share insights from our implementation journey, highlighting key lessons learned and challenges encountered, with the aim of supporting other institutions undertaking similar efforts.
