I did a new installation of Specify (latest version 7.9.2) and the side menu did not get the correct background color, instead it was black.
Would anyone know why this happens?

Specify 7.9.2 introduced a new option to toggle the light sidebar, but it is not enabled by default.
To change the sidebar color, you’ll need to go to User Preferences and scroll down to the Appearance subheading.
From here, you can set the light sidebar background in light mode to ‘match current theme’:
You will need to repeat this process when version 7.9.3 is released because there will be slight changes to this configuration in the next release. We are retooling it to be more intuitive to help discoverability of this feature!
