Greetings from Kansas! I’m happy to help clarify how Specify handles Collection Object Types and record updates.

  1. To modify an existing Collection Object Type, you can build a query on the ‘Collection Object Type’ table itself. You can edit it from the query results directly. In the future, we are planning to add an interface to make customization easier.

  2. How are you assigning the Collection Object Type? Did you add a new dropdown to the form and select the newly created type? If not, it will default to using the default type for the collection!
