We would like your assistance with the following.
So far, we have created 2 Disciplines with one Collection each: Invertebrate Paleontology and Marine Invertebrates.
In the first Collection: we created two COTs (Invertebrates, Micropaleontology), each linked to its own Taxon tree. In our tests, the entire process of importing records and attachments works normally.
In the second Collection we also created two COTs (Mollusca, Other Phyla). Here, we observed several problems:
- When creating the COTs, we were not offered the option to select the Taxon tree that had been created during the collection setup in Specify 6. That Taxon tree had been renamed and populated with a portion of the “WoRMS-15.3.2023.xlsx” tree available at https://files.specifysoftware.org/taxonfiles/. The same action had been done for the first Collection without issue; there the Taxon trees were populated from the classification fields of our own records. We worked around this by creating a new Taxon tree in Specify 7, which was also populated with a portion of the “WoRMS-15.3.2023.xlsx” tree from your site.
- Also, when creating the COTs, the Catalog Number Format Name that we had defined is not available for selection. It was available in the first Collection.
- Despite the two issues above, records are imported via WorkBench and appear correct. However, when we query the COTs, they do not show any linked records.
- We cannot add a user (created for the Invertebrate Paleontology Collection) to the Marine Invertebrates Collection. We receive the error: “Error occurred fetching from http://[Specify 7 IP]/permissions/user_roles/131074/2/. Invalid response code 400.” Note that this user-add process has worked for all other Collections we created.
- Finally, during testing we created additional Collections (and will likely need to create more) that we cannot delete. Is there a procedure for deleting Collections, Disciplines, or Divisions in Specify?
Can you guide us to resolve the above? Thank you in advance.
