Issues with Specify 7 (Collection Object Types and more)

Hi @gnhmSD,

Thank you for reaching out!

  • Also, when creating the COTs, the Catalog Number Format Name that we had defined is not available for selection. It was available in the first Collection.

Generally, field formats should be managed at the discipline level, however, Catalog Number is an exception and must also be set at the collection level. Thus, you should have a field formatters (UIFormatters) file at the discipline level for each discipline in App Resources, but you must also set the Catalog Number format from within each collection.

  • Despite the two issues above, records are imported via WorkBench and appear correct. However, when we query the COTs, they do not show any linked records.

This could be a matter of a misconfiguration during import of records. Please export and share your upload plan and data set for better diagnosis and troubleshooting of this issue.

  • We cannot add a user (created for the Invertebrate Paleontology Collection) to the Marine Invertebrates Collection. We receive the error: “Error occurred fetching from http://[Specify 7 IP]/permissions/user_roles/131074/2/. Invalid response code 400.” Note that this user-add process has worked for all other Collections we created.

So we can diagnose this issue, please download and send us the crash report associated with this error message. Thank you!

  • Finally, during testing we created additional Collections (and will likely need to create more) that we cannot delete. Is there a procedure for deleting Collections, Disciplines, or Divisions in Specify?

There is not a way to delete Collections, Disciplines, or Divisions in Specify 7 without SQL access at this time. However, the upcoming release of v7.12.0 includes a new System Configuration tool that allows adding, removing, and editing the collections in your Specify database. The ability to add, remove, and edit disciplines is planned to release with v7.12.1.
